
Balmain advertisement from 1992
The image is from the season before Oscar De La Renta was hired to take over the house. Though it never enjoyed the esteem of Dior or Balenciaga during the 50’s, by 1992 the Balmain name had been lost to zealous licensing and was in need of major renovations.
Balmain found itself in the same position more than 10 years later and now Christophe Decarnin has done wonders to remedy that.
