Halston, 1972

Halston 1872

In the ongoing rumors regarding Olivier Theysken’s next move, Halston has sprung up. For those that aren’t familiar, the label has recently been revived by film and tv mogul Harvey Weinstein in the hopes of reclaiming the status it enjoyed in the 70’s and 80’s. Versace veteran Marco Zanini was hired to design but after a subdued collection for fall 2008 he was released (ironically enough he is now designing the relaunched Rochas collection). Rachel Zoe was brought on as a consultant but also parted ways. It’s been going for a few seasons now without a creative director, but sales have reportedly been outstanding.

Anna Wintour is rumored to be championing Theyskens for the job. She was apparently distraught when he was let go from Nina Ricci, a placement she had strongly supported. Among other names that have been mentioned for Halston are Nariciso Rodriguez and Marios Schwab. Both designer’s aesthetics and technical expertise would be well suited for the label, perhaps more so than Theysken’s fairytale macabre visions. Of course here at Nueve Musas we have our own ideas on who would be best for the job…
