a tasteful interplay of plaids

Founded by Yoshiaki Fujiwara in 1986, Giuliano Fujiwara eschewed the methods of his avant-garde patriots in favor of a more global and specifically Western approach. Adapting his own sensibilities (procured from his native home or not) to the European menswear tradition, Fujiwara produced some of the most striking and innovative clothes to have come out of Milan where the designer was based.

Now designed by Masataka Matsumura, the label is enjoying renewed hype after spending several years under the radar.

Fujiwara’s aesthetic defied the ornamentation favored by Milanese designers of the time proving to be quite contemporary with one or two striking resemblances.
