Ungaro, 1991-1992

Polka dotted flair, 1992

Regardless if the rumors are true that Giles Deacon is set to replace Estrella Archs, there’s never a wrong occasion to revisit some of Ungaro’s storied design heritage. The label enjoyed its best years in the late 80’s and early 90’s, Ungaro’s latin flair and couture-isms  struck a note with fashion tastes of the time right alongside media darling Christian Lacroix. Most notable in those years, beyond the hysteric romantic extravagance, is the strong dose of humor present in the theatrical proportions and vibrant prints, though their current irony was probably not planned. And for all of its troubles, Ungaro deserves a good laugh.
