A smattering of looks from the Central St. Martins MA student collections.
It’s difficult not to cite a few Margiela inspirations, but if these ideas coming from fashion’s best and brightest are any sign of the times; it’s an encouraging show that fashion is indeed moving ahead. “Neo-minimalism” is a lazy and rushed attempt to describe the graphic contrast, architectural construction, abstracted silhoutte, and emphasis on subtle color and texture over decorative fabrics and ornamentation. Yet, certainly there is a specific discourse that is being addressed and developed. Perhaps we won’t be able to put our fingers on it for another season or two, keep your eyes peeled.
